Being there ahead of your call, gives your coordinator piece of mind - especially if you are considered an "unknown quantity". in terms of your skills and abilities. Get acquainted with the other crew and PAs, familiarize yourself with the location. Know where the bathrooms and other key working spaces are so you can help direct talent, crew, agency, producers... Changing rapidly and is different depending on the creative team who may or may not completely understand the best way to DO workflow. Case in point: Video Assist on Digital sets. We capture AND hold the entire show on our drives while the daily output of media goes to a safe haven (post house, etc) So for continuity and piece of mind Video Assist is important. Others may say not so we can view in the camera or on discs.
